IELTS

International English Language Testing System. A test of English language skills which are needed for study in an academic context in the UK. It has 4 separate components: listening, speaking, reading, and writing; each is scored individually and an overall score is awarded. It is banded from 1 to 9, with 1 indicating a very basic knowledge of English and 9 indicating language skills at native-speaker level.
