Healthy People 2020

Healthy People 2020

An initiative of the United States Department of Health and Human Services created to promote healthy behaviors. The plan identifies ten targets for health improvement in the U.S.: physical activity, overweight and obesity, tobacco use, mental health, responsible sexual behavior, injury and violence, substance abuse, environmental quality, immunization, and access to health care services. Private agencies have joined state and local governments in promoting and establishing educational and interventional programs to reduce acute and chronic disease in these areas.
