Hartel's treatment

Hartel’s treatment

An obsolete treatment for trigeminal neuralgia consisting of a local injection of alcohol; glycerol is the currently preferred injection agent administered as a percutaneous retroganglionic rhizotomy, with up to 59% of patients with trigeminal neuralgia being pain-free two years after a single injection of glycerol.
