HSPA1A

An intronless gene on chromosome 6p21.3 that encodes a member of the heat shock 70 (HSP70) family which, in conjunction with other heat shock proteins, stabilises extant proteins against aggregation and mediates the folding of newly translated proteins in the cytosol and in organelles. HSPA1A is a component of the so-called CatSper complex.

The 70-kDa heat shock protein Hsp72 plays a central role in the mechanism that rids the cell of stress-induced misfolding or incompletely synthesized polypeptides that otherwise would interfere with normal cellular function, thereby playing critical roles in maintaining cellular homeostasis and in protecting the cell from stressful conditions and increase cell survival in the face of otherwise lethal cellular stress.
Also, it is observed that there is an influence on the expression of hsp72, which protects cells and tissues from the deleterious effects of free radicals.
Under the heat stress, Hsp72 functions as a molecular chaperone [24].
