ZDHHC17

A gene on chromosome 12q21.2 that encodes a DHHC-type zinc finger protein and palmitoyltransferase which is specific for certain neuronal proteins (e.g., SNAP25, DLG4/PSD95, GAD2, SYT1 and HD). ZDHHC17 may play a role in the sorting or targeting of critical proteins involved in initiating endocytosis at the plasma membrane. It is highly expressed in the brain.
