GUCY1B3

A gene on chromosome 4q31.3-q33 that encodes a beta subunit of a soluble guanylate cyclase, one of a family of nitric oxide-activated heterodimeric enzymes that catalyse the conversion of GTP to 3’,5’-cyclic GMP and diphosphate. GUCY1B3 serves as the main receptor for nitric oxide (NO) and nitrovasodilator drugs.

At the level of cGMP/GMP and cAMP/AMP regulation, the downregulation of PDE6D and adenylate cyclase 7 (ADCY7) as well as the upregulation of PDE4B and two soluble forms of guanylate cyclase (GUCY1A3, GUCY1B3) suggest a shift towards cGMP and AMP production.
