GOT1

A gene on chromosome 10q24.1-q25.1 that encodes the cytoplasmic form of glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase, a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme that also exists as an inner-membrane mitochondrial form (GOT2). GOT1 and -2 both play key roles in amino acid metabolism and the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles, as well as in the exchange of metabolites between mitochondria and cytosol.
