GATA5(redirected from GATA binding factor-5)
GATA5A gene on chromosome 20q13.33 that encodes a member of the GATA family of zinc finger transcription factors, which binds to hepatocyte nuclear factor-1alpha (HNF-1alpha), an interaction required to activate the intestinal lactase-phlorizin hydrolase promoter. GATA5 also binds to the CEF-1 nuclear protein-binding site in the cardiac-specific slow/cardiac troponin C transcriptional enhancer, and may be involved in pathways that result in smooth muscle diversification.
