In one of the crosses, a clear direct SNP-effect was found on chromosome 2, close to the GABA receptor gene (GABBR2).
Gene expression of GABA(A) receptor subunit isoforms (GABRA3, GABRB3, GABRQ) and GABA(B) receptor 2 (GABBR2) was quantified in mRNA obtained from peripheral blood leukocytes from 28 migraine subjects and 22 healthy control subjects.
[165] Their team also genotyped 384 SNPs within 45 candidate genes related to nicotine dependence in a Han Chinese sample by employing the Golden Gate genotyping assay, and confirmed the previous findings that DRD2, DRD3, DDC, CHRNB3, GABBR2 and CHRNA4 genetic variants were associated with nicotine dependence.
