Floating Teeth

A descriptive term for mandibular teeth surrounded by marked osteolysis of alveolar bone, which imparts a radiologic appearance of teeth levitated atop cystic loculations; floating teeth are well described in circumscribed Langerhans’ cell histiocytosis (Hand-Schüller-Christian disease, eosinophilic granuloma), but may occur in Burkitt’s lymphoma and neuroblastoma
