FUT3 | definition of FUT3 by Medical dictionary
Also found in: Dictionary
FUT3 A gene on chromosome 19q13.3 that encodes a fucosyltransferase with alpha(1,3)-fucosyltransferase and alpha(1,4)-fucosyltransferase activities, which catalyses the addition of fucose to precursor polysaccharides in the last step of Lewis antigen biosynthesis.
FUT3 mutations are responsible for most Lewis antigen-negative blood group phenotypes.
