MAPK6

A gene on chromosome 15q21 that encodes a Ser/Thr protein kinase, which is closely related to the MAP kinases. MAP kinases integrate multiple biochemical signals and are involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, transcription, regulation and development. MAPK6 localises in the nucleus and is activated in fibroblasts in response to treatment by serum and phorbol esters.
