Exhaled Breath Condensate. Samples of
exhaled breath condensate were collected by tidal breathing for 10 minutes into an EcoScreen, (Jaeger, Wurzburg, Germany) cooled system forming a condensate.
Collection of
exhaled breath condensate (EBC) and the measurement of inflammatory markers contained therein (eg, hydrogen peroxide [[H.sub.2][O.sub.2]], leukotriene [B.sub.4] [[LTB.sub.4]], and pH) have been reported to be noninvasive tools for the investigation of respiratory disease in various species.
Another promising future tool is the measurement of biomarkers in
exhaled breath condensate (EBC), which is collected by cooling or freezing exhaled breath.
The investigators also have developed their own mask to collect
exhaled breath condensate.
Therefore, content research of soluble differentiation molecules in the
exhaled breath condensate in COPD patients could be relevant and promising.
