An extract of evening primrose that is rich in gamma-linoleic and gamma-linolenic acids, which is antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antitussive and thrombolytic, and has been widely used for everything from hangnails to terminal cancer. Anecdotal reports suggest that evening primrose oil may be useful in treating alcoholism, post-binge-drinking depression, asthma, atopic dermatitis, attention deficit disorder, breast engorgement, brittle nails, cardiovascular disease, dry eyes, eczema, migraines, multiple sclerosis, obesity, Parkinson’s disease, premenstrual syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, schizophrenia and other conditions. Such claims have not been FDA approved.
