A network of international, multilingual, multidisciplinary researchers—originally from 7 centres in England, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden—which developed EQ-5D, a measure generating a single index value for health status with potential for use in health care evaluation.

Data on the HRQoL were obtained using the EuroQoL Group Health Questionnaire (EQ-5D; EuroQoL Group, 1990; Spanish adaptation of Badia, Roset, Montserrat, Herdman, & Segura, 1999).

In this paper we report measurements of HRQoL at baseline and three months into treatment using an instrument developed by the EuroQol group, EQ-5D [49], which has been validated for heroindependent patients [50] and shown to be responsive to decreases in illicit drug use [51].
The EQ-5D questionnaire was developed by the EuroQol group, a voluntary, multinational collaboration of European investigators, during 1990.
