A generic term for any locally implemented policy in the UK which is part of a framework for good practice in organisations, and acts as a deterrent to discrimination against individuals based on their differences—e.g., age, class, culture, gender, health status, HIV status, marital status, cognitive ability, mental health, offending background, physical disability, place of origin, political beliefs, race, religion, sensory ability or sexual orientation.
