Zika virus is an RNA virus related to the viruses causing yellow fever, dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis, St. Louis
encephalitis, and West Nile disease.

Extensive studies--including serum ammonia, thyroidstimulating hormone, Lyme disease antibody, vitamin [B.sub.12], folate, beta-hCG, HIV, hepatitis B and C, Varicella zoster, syphilis, Lyme disease serology, CSF Eastern equine encephalitis, St. Louis
encephalitis virus, West Nile virus, Ehrlichia chaffeensis, Babesia microti, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, John Cunningham virus, typhus fever, cryptococcal antigen, rabies, 2 serum tests for anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antibodies, and serum ceruloplasmin--are normal.
Preventive measures are your best protection against the tick- and mosquitoborne diseases such as Lyme disease, West Nile virus, Eastern and Western equine encephalitis, St. Louis
virus, dengue fever, babesiosis, erlichiosis, and others.
Thirteen days after illness onset, a serology panel was negative for the following viruses: West Nile, La Crosse, Eastern equine encephalitis, St. Louis
encephalitis, and Western equine encephalitis.
On August 3, the patient's serum and CSF were submitted to a referral laboratory for immunofluorescence assay (IFA) for antibodies against West Nile, eastern equine encephalitis, western equine encephalitis, St. Louis
encephalitis, and California serogroup viruses.
West Nile virus is a flavivirus closely related to Japanese encephalitis, St. Louis
encephalitis (SLE), and Dengue viruses.

Assess for neurosyphilis, meningitis, influenza, enteric fever, Q fever, cholera, tetanus, posttyphoid immunization, herpes encephalitis, St. Louis
encephalitis, HIV, and AIDS.
