Emmens S/L test

Emmens S/L test

An obsolete bioassay once used to distinguish oestrogen precursors from active oestrogens, using mice that were either treated subcutaneously (S = systemic) or intravaginally (L = local) with a substance of interest; the ratio is near unity for the precursors and much greater than unity for active oestrogens.
