S1PR5(redirected from Edg-8)
S1PR5A gene on chromosome 19p13.2 that encodes an EDG (endothelial differentiation, G protein-coupled) family receptor for sphingosine 1-phosphate, a bioactive lysophospholipid that regulates cell proliferation, apoptosis, motility and neurite retraction. It acts intracellularly as a second messenger and extracellularly as a receptor ligand, and it elicits diverse physiologic effects on most types of cells and tissues.
