DRD3A gene on chromosome 3q13.3 that encodes G protein-coupled dopamine receptor D3, which inhibits adenylyl cyclase. D3 dopamine receptor localises to the limbic areas of the brain, which are associated with cognitive, emotional, and endocrine functions.
