KLF1A gene on chromosome 19p13.2 that encodes a haematopoietic-specific transcription factor that induces high-level expression of adult beta-haemoglobin and other erythroid genes.
Heterozygous loss-of-function mutations of KLF1 result in dominant In(Lu) blood phenotype.
