ALOXE3(redirected from E-LOX)
ALOXE3A gene on chromosome 17p13.1 that encodes a member of the lipoxygenase family, which are catabolised by arachidonic acid-derived compounds. ALOXE3 is a hydroperoxide isomerase that synthesises a unique epoxy alcohol (8R-hydroxy-11R,12R-epoxyeicosa-5Z,9E,14Z-trienoic acid) from 12R-hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid (12R-HPETE), and activates the the nuclear receptor peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR alpha) involved in epidermal differentiation.
ALOXE3 mutations cause nonbullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma.
