pethidineA synthetic narcotic painkilling drug somewhat less powerful than morphine. Pethidine is widely used during childbirth and as a PREMEDICATION. Overuse may lead to addiction. The drug is on the WHO official list. A brand name of pethidine in a formulation with promethazine is Pamergan P100.
