a cystic malformation of the fourth ventricle of the brain resulting from hydrocephalus. Diagnosis of the defect is made with computed tomographic scan, x-ray films, and less commonly a ventriculogram. Also called Dandy-Walker malformation. See also hydrocephalus,shunt.
