DUSP23

DUSP23

A gene on chromosome 1q23.2 that encodes dual-specificity phosphatase 23, which dephosphorylates proteins with Tyr and Ser/Thr residues, downregulating ERK1/MAPK3. It upregulates JNK/MAPK8 and p38/MAPK14.

Interestingly, the role of some of these enzymes, including MTMR1, mTmR2, DUSP7, DUSP8, DUSP23, STYXL1, and CDC25B, has not been studied in T cells.
The JNK- and ERK-specific DUSP22 and DUSP23 were found upregulated in our analysis, suggesting an important role in controlling intracellular signalling during Th1 polarisation or effector function.
Interestingly, overexpression of DUSP23 in CD4 T cells of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus has been described [46].
