Because RNA methyltransferase Dnmt2 shares strong sequence homology to all DNA DNMT methyltransferases , we reason that exploring the relationship between transcriptome and DNA [m.sup.5]C methylation profiles may unravel interesting interplay between the two kinds of reversible chemical modifications.
