DHX9A gene on chromosome 1p25 that encodes a member of the Asp-Glu-Ala-His (DEAH)-motif-containing family of RNA helicases, which catalyse the ATP-dependent unwinding of double-stranded RNA and DNA-RNA complexes. DHX9 localises to both the nucleus and the cytoplasm, regulates transcription, and may be involved in the expression and nuclear export of retroviral RNA.
