DDX5(redirected from DEAD box protein 5)
DDX5A gene on chromosome 17q21 that encodes a putatitive RNA helicase with a conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif. DEAD box proteins are RNA-dependent ATPases thought to play a role in altering RNA secondary structure by translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly.
