Localization of cytokeratin-14 in the basal layer and presence of cytokeratin-10 in the supra-basal layers verified an anatomically correct differentiation of the epidermis.
Physiological differentiation was confirmed by immunohistological staining, showing a physiological location of cytokeratin-14 in the basal layer and cytokeratin-10 in the suprabasal layers (Fuchs, 2009).
