anaphase promoting complex

A large protein complex of 11 to 13 proteins—including cullin (Apc2), RING (Apc11), and other proteins of as yet unknown functions—which is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets cell cycle proteins for degradation by the 26S proteasome.
