To date, a total of 24 species of Trichuris have been described from 10 families of rodents in America, Caviidae (1 species), Cricetidae (8), Ctenomyidae (4), Dasyproctidae (1), Echymyidae (1), Geomyidae (1), Heteromyidae (3), Myocastoridae (1), Octodontidae (1), and Sciuridae (3).
