cov·er test

a test used for objective demonstration of ocular deviation in strabismus; may be performed by two methods: the cover-uncover test and the alternate cover test.

cover test

A test for heterophoria in which one eye is covered for several days, followed by measurement of the relative fusional vergence amplitude, the amount of prism a person can overcome and still maintain single (i.e., stereo) vision.

cover test

A test for squint (STRABISMUS). When the subject is looking at a small near object and the non-squinting eye is covered, the other eye will move to continue viewing. This repeatable observed movement indicates that a genuine strabismus is present.

So for example, in a patient with ABI, a reduction in amplitude of accommodation to just below normal values, together with phi movements on cover test and a NPC of 7cm, might indicate a binocular vision anomaly which gives rise to symptoms that wouldn't necessarily occur in a patient without ABI.
Binocular vision anomalies are common (5%) and close to 100% of optometrists undertake basic orthoptic techniques during an eye examination, in the form of cover test and motility.
In order to detect any of the symptoms discussed above, a visual assessment of a child with a suspected tumour must include measurements of VA, cover test and ocular movements, visual fields (where possible), pupil size and responses, and fundoscopy.
The company's testing services cover test process consulting, test planning, logic modeling and advanced test case design, automated regression testing, performance testing, test life cycle management and execution.
They cover test generation and fault simulation; software testing and reliability model; failure analysis and fault modeling; built-in self-test and embedded testing; design for testability, reliability, dependability, and so on; yield enhancement and silicon debut; automatic test equipment; analog, mixed-signal, radio-frequency and high-speed input-output testing; delay fault testing; low power testing; system-on-chip and system-in-package test; memory and field-programmable gate array testing; board and system and on-line testing; and test economics, functional verification, and failure analysis.
Usually, it is enough to carry out the cover test with the proposed refractive correction.
Two simulators are also included which walk the practitioner through the basic Cover Test and Jackson Cross-Cyl and have an 'examination' mode which allows for quick and easy self testing.
They cover test administration, scoring, interpretation, and clinical applications.
When an eye is covered, for example during a cover test, there is no fusional vergence and the eye behind the cover is likely to revert towards the resting position.
In the twelfth Data Storage Test/Process Equipment Market and Technology Report we cover test, metrology and process equipment requirements and projections for the data storage industry.
A cover test on this patient revealed a small left esotropia at distance and near.
