Evaluating sublethal indicators of stress in asiatic clams (
Corbicula fluminea) caged in an urban stream.
The invasive Asian Clam
Corbicula fluminea tolerates fine sediment (Graney et al., 1980), and its numbers increase as sedimentation increases (Hall and Killen, 2005).
Edward was originally treated as subspecies of radiata (Pilsbry & Bequaert 1927), Mandahl-Barth (1988) synonymized all African
Corbicula under the name fluminalis with the exception of C.

En la zona lacustre la clase Oligochaeta fue dominante en la mayoria de las estaciones a excepcion de la estacion del centro y margen derecha del embalse (E4-C y MD), en las que fue mas importante el pelecipodo invasor
Corbicula fluminea.
More recently, novel sources of acidophilic xylanase had been identified from the gut environment of subterranean termites, Reticulitermes flavipes (Smith et al., 2009) and brackish-water clam,
Corbicula japonica (Sakamoto & Toyohara, 2009).
Due to their euriphagy, all these species have changed their diet because of the invasion by
Corbicula fluminea and Limnoperna fortunei, mollusk from southeast Asian, in the Rio de la Plata basin (Ferriz et al., 2000; Garcia & Protogino, 2005).
Brooding in
Corbicula madagascariensis (Bivalvia, Corbiculidae) and the repeated evolution of viviparity in corbiculids.
Live specimens of the introduced bivalves
Corbicula fluminea (Asian Clam) and Dreissena polymorpha (Zebra Mussel) were observed in low numbers at this site.
Twenty-four freshwater mussel species and the introduced bivalve
Corbicula fluminea (Muller, 1744) were recovered during the survey.
Given that our study is the first complete survey of the Wolf River, we cannot comment on how many species have been lost due to habitat alteration, sedimentation, Asian clam (
Corbicula fluminea, Muller, 1774) colonization, and pollution.
