Several membranes have been prepared by adopting the LbL technique for block copolymers that has proved to be an environment friendly approach in industries such as in gas separation, water purification and waste water treatment systems .
In our previous study block copolymers having general formula [(-CO-R'-CO-HN-Ar-NH- CO-R'-CO)xNH(CH2)3-(Me2SiO)y(CH2)3NH2]n [n=18.00 to 1175.0] where R'=CH2CH(CH2GeCl3);CH2CHGeCl3CH2;and Ar=-C6H4;-(o.CH3C6H4)2;-o.CH3OC6H4)2; (o.CH3C6H4) were synthesized by a polycondensation reaction of polyamide having a pendant trichlorogermyl group and terminal acid chloride Cl(-CO-R'-CONHAr-NH-CO-R'-CO-)xCl with aminopropyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane H2N(CH2)3(Me2SiO)y-(CH2)3NH2] .
For processors, the copolymer
grades are attractive because of the lower process temperature associated with lower crystallinity and also a wider process window.
