CLDN4A gene on chromosome 7q11.23 that encodes claudin-4, an integral membrane protein of the claudin family, the members of which form part of the tight junction strands and may play a role in embryonic and post-natal organogenesis and function.
CLDN4 is deleted in Williams-Beuren syndrome, a multisystem neurodevelopmental disorder.
