Cloquet's needle sign

Cloquet's needle sign

An obsolete and inaccurate test used to determine death, in which the biceps muscle was punctured by a sewing needle (surgical or other); if the needle rusted within an hour, the patient was deemed alive. Developed by Jules Germain Cloquet (1790–1883), a French anatomist.
