A winged insect which has long had use as a Chinese “herb”; it is used internally for swollen eyes with blurred vision, sore throat with hoarse voice, virus-related skin rashes, and high fever in childhood infections accompanied by convulsions and delirium.
Cicada should not be used in pregnancy, as it may induce abortion.
