VCAN(redirected from Chondroitin sulphate proteoglycan 2)
VCANA gene on chromosome 5q14.3 that encodes an aggrecan/versican proteoglycan, which is a large chondroitin sulphate and major component of the extracellular matrix involved in cell adhesion, proliferation, migration and angiogenesis, and which plays a central role in tissue morphogenesis and maintenance.
VCAN mutations cause Wagner syndrome type 1.
