Chinese Lantern Sign

A finding in hydranencephaly—cerebral hemispheres are absent and replaced by sacs of cerebrospinal fluid—and poroencephaly, seen by transillumination of the infant skull, which lacks opacification, given the absence of cerebral hemispheres; the brainstem and basal ganglia are well-formed; intellectual or voluntary motor development is impossible; most infants die by age 1
