CRABP2A gene on chromosome 1q21.3 that encodes a member of the retinoic acid- and lipocalin/cytosolic fatty-acid-binding protein families which shuttles its cognate ligands from the cytosol to the nucleus. It is involved in the retinoid signalling pathway and is associated with increased circulating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C).
