Carey-Coombs murmur

A transient murmur heard between beats (diastolic murmur) in the acute early stages of heart involvement in RHEUMATIC FEVER but not thereafter. (Carey Franklin Coombs, 1879–1932, English physician). The origin of the hyphen remains a mystery.
