It causes chronic arthritis in adults and leukoencephalomyelitis, characterized by ataxia, proprioceptive loss and paralysis, in young kids. Indurative mastitis, and less commonly chronic pneumonia and chronic encephalomyelitis, occur in older goats. The primary mode of transmission is through the colostrum and milk.
