CAESAR

An important and historic trial of multiple therapy for HIV-positive people carried out in Canada, Australia, Europe and South Africa (hence the acronym). CAESAR showed conclusively that the addition of LAMIVUDINE or lamivudine plus loviride to a treatment regimen containing zidovudine can significantly reduce progression to AIDS and death. All routine anti-HIV treatment now involves drug combinations.
