Etymology: Fr, blow
1 any blow or stroke or the effects of such a blow to the body, usually used with a French word identifying a type of stroke.
2 also called coup de sabre. a wound resembling a sword cut.

4 also called coup sur coup. administration of a drug in small amounts over a short period rather than in a single larger dose.
5 also called contrecoup. an injury most often associated with a blow to the skull in which the force of the impact is transmitted through the skull bones to the opposite side of the head, where the bruise, fracture, or other sign of injury appears.

The N-COWP amplification procedure for the 553-bp COWP fragment from the 769-bp E-COWP amplicon was developed and initially assessed by using 76 DNA samples extracted from whole human feces, which had been genotyped by using the COWP reaction.
To assess the sensitivity of PCR procedures for the N-COWP reaction, amplification of DNA was compared with that from the E-COWP, COWP, TRAP-C1, and TRAP-C2, as well as the two 18S rDNA reactions.
