KRT8
(redirected from CK-8)KRT8
A gene on chromosome 12q13.13 that encodes a type-II cytokeratin that heteropolymerises to form intermediate filaments in epithelial cell cytoplasm. The KRT 8 typically dimerises with KRT 18 to form an intermediate filament in simple single-layered epithelial cells. KRT8 plays a role in maintaining cellular structural integrity, in signaltransduction and cell differentiation.
Molecular pathology
KRT8 mutations cause cryptogenic cirrhosis.
