KRT10A gene on chromosome 17q21 that encodes a type-I (acidic) member of the cytokeratin family, which belongs to the superfamily of intermediate filaments, that with actin microfilaments and microtubules forms the epithelial cell cytoskeleton.
KRT10 mutations cause epidermolytic hyperkeratosis.
