CHST5

A gene on chromosome 16q22.1 that encodes a sulfotransferase which catalyses the transfer of sulphate to the non-reducing terminal GlcNAc of short carbohydrate substrates, but not to longer carbohydrate substrates with poly-N-acetyllactosamine structures. It does not act on keratan, nor is it involved in generating HEV-expressed ligands for L-selectin. CHST5 is expressed in the large and small intestine.

(7) Other mutations causing MCD relate to the insertion or deletion of nucleotides in the CHST6 coding region, which alters frame-shift and also a few upstream deletion or substitution between CHST5 and CHST6.
The genes of ABCG2, CA7, HP, KIAA1199, and CLDN1 are upregulated and CA4, CHP2, CHST5, CLCA1, CLCA4, CLDN8, FAM55D, H3F3A, MUC2, and NR3C2 are downregulated in carcinoma and metastases, which can be prognosis monitoring markers.
