CEBPE

A gene on chromosome 14q11.2 that encodes a transcription factor which binds as a homodimer to various DNA regulatory regions, and as a heterodimer to CEBP-delta. CEBP-epsilon is thought to be critical for the terminal differentiation and functional maturation of committed granulocyte progenitors.

Molecular pathology
CEPBE mutations are linked to specific granule deficiency.

The research, published in The Journal of Clinical Investigation, found that high doses of the nicotinamide form of vitamin B3 stimulated a specific gene (CEBPE), enhancing white blood cells' ability to combat staph infections, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA.
Beyond that, the study indicates that similar targeting of the CEBPE gene with other compounds may offer a new immune-boosting strategy to fight bacterial infections.
Genes that are important in adiposity were also found to be differently expressed between the DPL and Landrace piglets, including G0S2 and CEBPE. Adiposity can increase the cost for pig farming because it reduces feed efficiency and carcass yield.
