A gene on chromosome 7p14.2 that encodes septin 7, a member of the septin family of nucleotide-binding proteins, which are required for cytokinesis. Septin 7 is linked to suppression of glioma cell growth and is a requirement for the association of centromere-associated protein E with the kinetochore.
