a type I transmembrane protein found on T cells, medullary thymocytes, some cortical thymocytes, a few B cells, and in brain. CD6 is phosphorylated on cellular activation and possibly plays a role in signal transduction; expressed in some B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemias.

Equillium's initial product candidate, itolizumab (EQ001), is a clinical-stage, first-in-class monoclonal antibody that selectively targets the novel immune checkpoint receptor CD6.
